Safety & security
How we protect your child every minute they are with us, across all four ABQ Childcare locations.
At the door
Every ABQ Childcare center starts the day with the front door locked. Access is intentional, not casual.
An entry code is required to enter every center. Codes are shared with enrolled families and updated as needed. Anyone without a code is buzzed in only after a staff member identifies them.
Every teacher, director, cook, and assistant on our team has cleared a state and federal criminal background check before working with children, in line with New Mexico CYFD and federal CCDF requirements.
Visitors, vendors, and contractors are escorted by management for the duration of their visit. They are never alone in classrooms, bathrooms, or with children.
Pickup, every time
Pickup is the moment that matters most. We verify every adult who comes for a child, every time.
We use Brightwheel for digital check-in and check-out. Each pickup is logged with a timestamp, the adult's name, and 100% photo ID verification.
Only adults on a child's approved pickup list, set up by the family at enrollment, can take a child home. Anyone not on the list is asked to wait while we contact the parent or guardian to confirm.
We ask for photo ID at every pickup, even for adults we recognize. It is a small ask that closes a big gap.
Through the day
Children move through the day, and so does the structure that protects them. Transitions are where security can slip; ours don't.
Every shift change includes a name-to-face headcount, where the outgoing and incoming teachers verify each child by name and face together before the handoff is complete.
Each location runs a daily walk of the building exterior, fence lines, and play areas to identify anything that needs attention before children go outside.
Family records, enrollment paperwork, and any sensitive information about a child or family are handled under a strict confidentiality policy. Information is shared only with the people who need it to care for your child.
Around the building
Safety inside the classroom depends on safety outside the walls. We invest in both.
Each center is equipped with security cameras that meet New Mexico CYFD compliance standards. Footage is reviewed when needed and retained per state requirements.
We contract a professional security company on 24/7 call, including overnight, weekends, and holidays. If something is detected at the building, response is immediate.
Questions Parents Ask
Only adults on your child's approved pickup list can take your child home. The list is set during enrollment and can be updated any time. We require photo ID at every pickup, even for adults we recognize.
The child stays with us. We ask the unapproved adult to wait, then contact the parent or guardian directly to confirm. Your child is not released until we have explicit approval from someone on the list, every time.
Every Brightwheel check-out is logged with a timestamp and the name of the adult who picked up. You can review the log any time in your Brightwheel app and receive a notification when your child is signed out.
