Child & Adult Care Food Program

Where Healthy Eating Becomes A Habit — Albuquerque, NM — ABQ Child Care
Proper nutrition is essential in the development of children, and our learning centers have a nutrition education program to reflect that fact. As members of the Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), we understand how nutrition and learning are intertwined. Our breakfast, snack and lunch programs are created with New Mexico childhood nutritional standards firmly in mind.

We Provide FREE Meals and Snacks to All Children and Accommodate All Food Allergies

Breakfast

Breakfast is provided to all children every day at all four of our ABQ locations. Breakfast plays an important part in our child nutrition programs. Skipping breakfast can make children feel tired, restless, or irritable. In the morning, their bodies need to refuel for the day ahead. Therefore, breakfast is a great way to give the body the refueling children need. Children who eat breakfast tend to eat healthier overall and are more likely to participate in physical activities. All children are encouraged to eat breakfast every morning while practicing family-style dining.

Lunch & Snacks

In addition to breakfast, we also provide morning and afternoon snacks, as well as lunch. Meals and snacks are nutritionally balanced, including all required food components and portion sizes in accordance with New Mexico Child & Adult Care Food Program regulations. Children are encouraged to taste and try every food group that is offered to help support their healthy eating choices. Children practice family style dining during all meals and are encouraged to practice serving themselves from each of the food groups.
